| A section of the 1933 map for the village - there is a larger version below |
The find provides a valuable snapshot of the growth of the village during its formative years. It offers fresh insight into how Brookmans Park evolved in the seven years following the publication of the first sales brochure in 1926.
This 1933 map - which is technically a hand drawn plan for the estate - captures the road layout and housing plots developed since the promotional brochure first advertised the new homes.

The reference to the Red Lion Hotel in High Barnet confirms that the auction of land and properties was held outside the parish itself, reflecting common practice at the time.
North Mymms Parish Council, owners of the estate office hut on Bradmore Green where the plan was found, has donated the document to the North Mymms History Project. It is being published here as part of our ongoing work to preserve and share the parish’s history for future generations.
Those interested in the development of Brookmans Park might also want to read Peter Kingsford’s book, ‘A Modern History of Brookmans Park 1700-1950’, which is published on this site. Also of interest is the October 2014 report Brookmans Park’s Changing Population and Housing, which examines how the village has evolved over the decades.
